Join Beatbox Ray (Narandelger Byambaa) for an inspiring introduction to the fascinating world of traditional Mongolian jaw harps.
During this hands-on workshop, you'll explore several authentic Mongolian jaw harps—including iron, bamboo, and the rare Mongolian bow harp—while learning the essential playing techniques, breathing methods, rhythm, and sound production that make each instrument unique.
Beatbox Ray will also demonstrate how he combines these centuries-old instruments with contemporary beatbox, creating a distinctive musical style that bridges Mongolia's rich cultural heritage with modern musical innovation.
Throughout the workshop, Ray will perform several of his own compositions, showcasing the remarkable versatility and expressive possibilities of these traditional instruments. There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions about Mongolian music, culture, and the instruments themselves.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, musicians, jaw harp players, and anyone curious about overtone music.
Authentic Mongolian jaw harps will be available to use during the workshop, and afterwards you'll have the opportunity to purchase handcrafted instruments directly from Beatbox Ray.
